Kwan and Scheinert started researching the concept of the multiverse in 2010 and developing the screenplay in 2016. The lead part, which was originally created for Jackie Chan, was then revised and presented to Yeoh. Prior to the commencement of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, principal photography began in January 2020 and ended in March. Son Lux composed the soundtrack, which includes collaborations with Mitski, David Byrne, and André 3000.

Everything Everywhere All at Once premiered at South by Southwest on March 11, 2022, and had a limited theatrical release in the United States on March 25, 2022, before being released wide on April 8, 2022, by A24; it has a worldwide gross of under $57 million.

On March 11, 2022, the film Everything Everywhere All at Once had its global premiere at the South by Southwest film festival. It had a limited theatrical release on March 25, 2022[30], followed by a nationwide release through A24 on April 8, 2022. The film was released for one night only in select IMAX cinemas across the United States on March 30, 2022. Due to the film’s success, it will be shown in select IMAX cinemas for one week beginning April 29, 2022. Due to censorship of LGBT themes in those nations, the film was not released in all parts of the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. On May 13, 2022, the film was released in the United Kingdom.
